Malaysia and Saudi Arabia joined the markets restricting imports of Brazilian poultry products after a Newcastle disease outbreak was confirmed on a turkey farm in Nova Itaberaba, Santa Catarina, Pecuaria.com.br reported, citing the Ministry of Agriculture.
Malaysia suspended purchases of poultry meat, meat products and offal from all of Brazil, while Saudi Arabia limited its restrictions to Santa Catarina. Mexico also maintains nationwide restrictions, while China and Chile apply suspensions limited to the affected state.
Regionalization allows shipments from other states to continue to destinations that accept this approach. The Brazilian government continues containment and surveillance measures in the outbreak area.
