Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange, plans to launch its first cattle and hog futures contracts on December 7, subject to regulatory review, Reuters reported.
The company will offer physically delivered live cattle contracts, as well as financially settled futures for live cattle, feeder cattle and lean hogs. The first listed month for the physically delivered contract will be June 2027.
ICE is seeking to compete with CME Group, which currently dominates these markets. The company said it had received strong demand from market participants seeking an alternative. The new live cattle contract will trade under the symbol MOO and will have the same contract size, trading hours and listed months as CME’s contract.
