China expected to release preliminary beef import report by July
China’s ongoing investigation into the impact of beef imports on domestic beef cattle prices is expected to yield a preliminary report by late July, according to Agro Estadão.
The investigation, which began in December last year and included a public hearing attended by both local producers and exporting countries, is evaluating the potential application of safeguard measures by China, which could temporarily limit beef imports to protect the local industry.
“The final report is likely to be released by the end of August,” a source told Agro Estadão.
Participants in the March 31 hearing had until Tuesday to formally submit their written statements to China’s Ministry of Commerce.
